Our courtesy policy for members in courses with weekly classes, such as Taiji, is as follows:
Once enrolled, students have a base class or set of base classes. If a student misses class, they may check with the instructor to arrange an appropriate class to "sub" into, if available. Substitutions are limited to twice per six-month course term.
If a student is gone for three weeks or longer due to a medical issue, injury, or planned travel, an equal amount of class credit will be added to the end of the course term (once per six-month term only). Please notify the class instructor of any planned absences.
Quick rules — No Stacking
• The three week minimum must be continuous and due to the same qualifying reason (medical issue, injury, or planned travel — not a mix).
• You cannot combine short-notice absences (e.g., calling in sick, or tired) with a planned trip to reach the credit threshold of three weeks, even if the dates are adjacent.
• Example: 2 weeks planned travel + 1 short-notice sick week before or after = does not qualify.
Only uninterrupted absence for one stated reason counts toward the extension.
If we cancel a given day of class, then a credit will be added to the end of the student's course term. Please remember that we keep our doors open through tuition, and promote regular attendance to meaningfully progress.
